The Eyes Of The World
Lessons From M.C. Escher
September 10th, 2004 -- Recently, en route to another vee device adventure, the conversation turned to art. vee was a proponent of Whistler and his nocturnes. Deej favored Dufy -- after all, he was the "grandfather of modern chic." But soon, both were blown away by G-Man's reckoning of M.C. Escher. Here is the exact transcript of what he said:
"Escher was a person lucidly aware of the miracles surrounding him; having learned to bear up under loneliness, he made quite a bit of progress on the road to wisdom. Or am I off target?"
"Art, man! Art is so thrilling. When, if ever, might we reach that towering pinnacle to which our endeavours aspire? Or shall we be contented to walk the path, to strive and toil, to offer our sweat to such noble purposes?"
"Is it possible for any man? Did not the greatest minds of yore believe they hadn't accomplished but a breath of dust in comparison to what could be done? What is the point? Ah, but we see that it IS the path. Let us continue to walk it, my friends! A high design beckons us to follow; let us keep our vigils for the gales of inspiration, who fly and howl at seemingly the oddest and most tenable moments; let us pursue our halcyon goal..."
Well said Mr. G-Man. What a path it is. May we remain brothers in Revolution until the end of our days.
Long Live The vee Revolution.
