Name: Deej
Role: Vocals, Bass

Fast Fact: He is one of only four people in the world diagnosed with the rare condition known as Insomniatic Narcolepsy.

Bio: A child of the ante-bellum South, Deej was born 26 years ago in a mangrove swamp. At the age of twelve, he fell in with a band of ruffians. Reckless and unabashed, he struck a path like Sherman, blazing his way to the sea. A modern day Robin Hood, he knocked over 49 banks in a matter of six years. A feat, he is proud to say, that he accomplished without harming a single person. Distributing the spoils to the disadvantaged, he became a folk-hero. Beneficiaries of his work included: The Alligator Defense Initiative (ADI), You Want A Peace Of Me? (WAPOM), and The Athenian League. Despite the good he wrought, the authorities were displeased. A press-release branded him “The Comeback Kid” and the name stuck. His luck, however, ran out in Tifton – “the reading capital of the world.” Making a routine traffic stop, the extra-literate cops slapped on the cuffs at once.
Sentenced to five years in the Georgia State Pen, Deej served his time with dedicated resolve. Time reformed his felonious ways and once he was on the outside, he became a drifter. He had decided music would be his new vehicle for change. And so he set off across the country to spread his message of peace, hope, and love. He grew to love the cardboard boxes that were his itinerant homes. He made friends with all he met – the hobo, the businessman, the wino, the pimp. Bouncing from one town to another, he worked his way toward the manifest west. Along the way, he happened to find himself in Pretty Prairie, Kansas. Strumming away at the town’s only stop light, he was about to move on when a car, with windows rolled down, stopped at a green light. Deej thought nothing of it, for he’d seen many a strange sight in his travels. But when the car door opened and out stepped a person, he had to admit, he found it rather peculiar.
The fellow walked up inquisitively, glancing around the deserted intersection. “Who is it you’re playing for?” Deej made the honest reply: “Whoever cares to listen. Today it’s for the wind and mourning dove.” Grinning from ear to ear, it was then that vee introduced himself and his mission. Deej saw no reason not to lend a hand. After all, their goals were one and the same.
